P1383 Code Reason

P1383 DTC specifically refers to the camshaft (cam) timing. In this case, if the cam timing is over-retarded, the engine light will be illluminated and the code will be set.

Detonation, or spark knock, is a type of combustion caused by the buildup of too much heat and pressure in the engine's combustion chamber. When this happens, you should be able to hear a metallic knocking or pinging noise. A small amount of detonation usually won't cause major damage, but heavy knocks or prolonged detonation can cause serious damage to your parts. P1383 Solution:

Excessive air inflow can be caused by a vacuum leak, a dirty sensor or, an exhaust gas recirculation valve not closing properly. If the problem is not enough fuel, the culprit may be dirty injectors or fuel filters, a weak fuel pump or a leaky fuel pressure regulator. The lean fuel mix error may be accompanied by rough idling, engine misfires, hesitation during acceleration and overall poor engine performance.
